The best country singles/tracks of the year:
1. Monday Morning Church, Alan Jackson - just devastatingly sad and beautifully sung.
2. Paper Angel, Jimmy Wayne. It may have been sentimental, but it was warm and genuinely mved me to tears more than once.
3. The Up Side Of Being Down, Catherine Britt - a stunning debut. I've been anxiously waiting for teh album ever since I first heard this.
4. I May Hate Myself In The Morning, Lee Ann Womack - a return to form for Womack, showcasing her enchanting vocals.
5. Probably Wouldn't Be This Way, LeAnn Rimes - the best thing she has ever done.
6. If Heaven, Andy Griggs - another tear jerker, and the only performance I've ever liked by Griggs.
7. Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off, Joe Nichols - just fun.
8. Julie Roberts, Wake Up Older - an extraordinary performance by a singer who should be much more successful than she has been to date.
9. I'm Your Biggest Fan, Dallas Wayne - the most jaw dropping lyric of the year.
10. What's A Guy Gotta Do, Joe Nichols - more fun.
I'll leave albums until the new year, also books.
TV:
1. Battlestar Galactica
2. House
3. Bleak House
4. Dr Who
